I think Seltzer really missed the boat on this one. Yes the problem is that users don’t update, but the update process is no walk in the park. Computers and OSes need to be more self-healing and the updates need to be able to be delivered in small enough chunks that dial-up users (who are still a sizable portion of the online population) can deal with.

Of course this is also a call to arms to make sure your friends and family use good virus protection at the least.
